Description
This is a circa 1850 building on High Street, part of a symmetrical design that includes numbers 3 and 5, and balanced by number 9. It is constructed of crazed rubble with ashlar quoins. The left-hand section projects forward, featuring a low gable with pierced, cusped bargeboards. The roof is slate with overhanging eaves. The ground floor of the projection has a four-centred carriage arch with quoins and voussoirs, while the first-floor window is a snail-canted oriel bay. The recessed part of the building has two windows on each floor, each with drip moulds, and a three-centred arched doorway with a flat drip mould. The building has a picturesque appearance. Numbers 1 to 9 (odd) form a group with numbers 2 and 4 Church Street, and numbers 3 and 5 are of local interest. There is no number 7 in the row.
