SZ48NW WINKLE STREET 1354-0/6/155 Stable Block at Westover inc. Eastern and Western Cottage

Stable block. Late C18. Quadrangular on plan. 2 storeys. Stone rubble with hipped slate roof. Central pediment with cambered arch with keystone. Inserted C20 casement windows to cottages. South front has central pedimented gable with oculus filled in with flint, sashes with keystones and cambered arch with keystone. Mounting block outside gable. On each side are 3 sashes in stone architraves with keystones. Right side ground floor has hinged sashes. West front has 6 windows, mainly sashes with stone surrounds and keystones with hinges to ground floor windows. Left side cambered arch with keystone and stable door with semi-circular fanlight and sidelights. Cambered arch to right side. North side has central gable with 3 round-headed arches with keystone and cambered carriage arch. Ground floor has 2 segmental openings and otherwise modern casements. East front has 1 paired casement. Facing house are 7 casements with vertical glazing bars only and cambered openings to ground floor. Large double garage opening. One of the grandest stable buildings on the Isle of Wight.
