Description

At the lower end of the garden of St Mary's Vicarage, there is a Roman Villa that was excavated in 1859. The site has only been partially uncovered and is now largely overgrown, although some of the pavements have been covered with a roof. The villa is of the basilican type, and the excavations reportedly revealed a semi-circular bath and a hypocaust.
