Description

No. 19 on St James's Street is an 18th-century building that stands two stories tall. The first floor features rough cast with applied wood frames. An early 19th-century shallow bow window remains, which has three lights, sash windows with glazing bars, and is flanked by thin Doric pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. The ground floor retains the frame of a good early 19th-century shop front, with two windows on either side of the door that have been redone in an early 19th-century style as flat-sided projecting bows with glazing bars. The door is modern but keeps an earlier rectangular fanlight. The door and windows are flanked by original thin reeded Doric columns on a stone plinth, which support a frieze with a reeded base and a serpentine cornice. There is a recessed side door with six incised panels, a rectangular fanlight, and a small panelled frieze below the main frieze, also flanked by the same columns as the shop front.
