Description
No. 24 on New Street is a late 18th century to early 19th century building made of painted brick. It features a slate roof with parapet gable ends and a moulded eaves cornice. The building stands three storeys tall and has three windows, which are fitted with sashes that include glazing bars. The windows have voussoired lintels with fluted keyblocks. The ground floor showcases a well-preserved early 19th century double-fronted shop, complete with pilasters and a bowed entablature topped with a dentilled cornice. The central doorway is flanked by pilaster shafts and has a rectangular fanlight above it. Note that the original small panes in the windows have been replaced with larger panes. To the left, there is a round-arched passageway.
