Description
Nodyhill is a house located in Godshill, originally known as Elfin. It was built around 1680, extended in the 18th century, and altered in 1838 when it was refenestrated. The structure is made of stone rubble with ashlar quoins and features a half-hipped thatched roof with two brick chimneystacks. It has one and a half storeys and a total of ten windows, arranged as six on the upper floor and four on the ground floor. There are six dormers with 19th-century casements. On the ground floor, the left side has two mullioned windows with drip moulding, while the right side has two modern three-light casements. A modern central porch is also present, and there is an outshut at the rear.
Inside, the house features a chamfered spine beam with a two-inch chamfer and an inglenook that includes a beehive-shaped bread oven with a cambered architrave. The right side of the house has a mid-18th-century cambered fireplace, along with a spine beam and joists that have run-out stops.
