Description
This listing describes a group of four headstones located immediately north of a monument, approximately 2.5 meters east of the east window at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Brighstone.
The first headstone is a monument to Thomas Wheeler, dating from around 1770, featuring a curved top with a central cherub and roses on either side. The second headstone commemorates Elizabeth Wheeler, from approximately 1767, and is similar to the first but has a less pronounced curve and more roses beside the central cherub. The third headstone is dedicated to Ann Cotton, dating from around 1784, and is designed in the Rococo style, showcasing a scrolled top with a central swag and tendrils surrounding a central shield. The fourth headstone is a monument to Daniel Dickonson, dating from around 1704, which features crude rustic skulls and circular decorations at the ends.
