Description
The building at 1 and 3 Sea Street occupies a corner location on the junction of Sea Street and Holyrood Street. Dating to the later 18th century, the front of the building was extensively refaced in the late 19th century and now incorporates a public house. The Sea Street elevation is stuccoed, with a decorative frieze and plinth. It has a gable end roof covered with old tiles, and a shallow wood eaves cornice. There are three windows. On the first floor, the window to the north is a two-light casement with glazing bars and a thin wood block sill. The other first-floor windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars, moulded frames, and block sills. The ground floor windows are also recessed. The northern ground floor window contains two round-headed lights with colonettes, a bracketed hood, and block sills. The other two ground floor windows are recessed sash windows of two lights with plain strips and thin block sills, dating to the mid-19th century. Number 1 has a recessed modern door with a semi-circular fanlight, splayed reveals, and a doorcase of stucco pilasters with block capitals and a plain arch above. Number 3 has a recessed door of four fielded panels, two of which are glazed, set within a moulded frame, and features a doorcase of stucco Doric pilasters, a frieze, and a block cornice.
