Description
Down House is a wing of a larger building known as The Old Farmhouse, believed to date from 1690, with a front added in 1730. The exterior features dressed flints with red brick dressings and a tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a six-window range. The round-arched entrance is located in the fourth bay from the west and includes a doorcase with engaged Doric columns that support a broken pediment. The entrance has panelled reveals, a fanlight with decorative glazing, and a panelled door of original design, although the upper panels are now glazed. All windows are flat-arched with painted brick dressings, and there is a brick storey band and quoins. The sashes are of original design, and there is a modillion cornice and end stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
