Description
116 and 117 St James's Street is a house that has been converted into shops and flats, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The exterior is finished in stucco that has been scored to resemble regularly coursed ashlar. The building features a two-span roof, with a gambrel roof covered in tiles on the front span and a gable roof covered in slate at the rear, which includes an outshut.
It has two storeys and a dormer, with one window on each level. The ground floor has late 19th century or early 20th century shop fronts. Each unit has a segmental bay on the first floor, with tripartite, flat-arched windows that have original design sashes: a 6 x 6 window in the centre and 4 x 4 windows on the sides. There is a blocking course topped with a metal flashing course, and each unit has one flat-arched dormer. Additionally, there is a flat-arched entrance of no particular distinction on the return side. At the party wall, there is one chimney stack at the peak of each roof. The interior has not been inspected.
