Description

No. 9, St James’s Street, is a terraced house dating from circa 1825. It was likely designed by Amon Wilds and Charles Augustin Busby. The house is constructed of stucco with a tile roof and stands three storeys high with dormers. It has a three-window front. The first and second floors are treated as a full-width, full-height segmental bay, to which a giant Ionic distyle in antis portico has been applied. The attached columns support an entablature with a parapet. There are two flat-arched dormers to the roof. All windows are flat-arched, with those in the centre range being wider than those on the sides. A storey band between the first and second floors is recessed behind the giant order. The second-floor windows have projecting sills. The interior has not been inspected.
