Description
52 Old Steine is a terraced house built in the early 19th century. It has three storeys and an attic above a basement, featuring a two-window range. Access is gained by stepping up to a flat-arched entrance that includes an overlight, set beneath a prostyle porch supported by a pair of Tuscan columns with pilaster responds. To the left of the entrance, there is a full-height segmental bay with tripartite windows, and all windows are flat-arched. A storey band runs between the second floor and the attic. The first floor has a verandah with cast-iron stanchions and railings designed in a heart and anthemion pattern. Each floor has a single window in the entrance range, although the window on the second floor is blocked. An entablature with a cornice runs across the entire top of the elevation. The interior has not been inspected. Nos 52 and 53 form a group with Marlborough House.
