Ground floor taken up by segmental-bay shop front of early to mid C19 date. All openings are flat arched. French doors to tripartite opening on the first floor. These open onto a shallow balcony enclosed by cast-iron railings in a fret and anthemion pattern. The sashes to these doors have margin lights and are of an early to mid C19 design: 4-pane transom, 3-pane French doors, and 3-pane sidelights. The second-floor window was extended and now cuts into the entablature separating the second and attic floors. The latter storey is a late C19 addition. Above the entrance is an iron sign bracket of late C19 or early C20 date. From the ground to second floor a curved stair of original design. Nos 26-31 and 33-36 East Street (qv) face onto what is, in effect, a small square, which is formed by the widening of East Street at its northern end. Legend has it that this group was built on the site of a small wharf of an inlet.
