Description

Nos. 2, 3, and 4 Grafton Street are a group of early 19th-century terraced houses. They are constructed of stucco, with slate roofs to Nos. 2 and 4 and a tile roof to No. 3. The properties are three storeys high with dormers above a basement. No. 2 features a two-window front, while Nos. 3 and 4 have a single window each. The entrances to Nos. 2 (a flat arch with overlight) and 3 and 4 (round arches with fanlights) are prominently displayed. The ground floor of No. 4 is characterised by banded, chamfered rustication. Each property has a full-height segmental bay with a tripartite window to one side of the entrance. The windows are generally flat arched, although two camber-arched windows are present above the entrance to No. 2. No. 3 has original sash windows, while No. 4 retains original sashes to the first and third floors. A first-floor balcony with cast-iron railings and brackets is present at No. 3, and a similar balcony with railings and brackets, but only to the bay window, is found at No. 4. Flat-arched dormers are visible in Nos. 2 (two) and Nos. 3 and 4 (one each). The party walls between the properties have chimney stacks. The interiors have not been inspected.
