Description

12 Grafton Street is a terraced house built in the early 19th century, constructed of stucco with a roof obscured by a parapet. The building has four storeys over a basement and features a three-window range. The original door and frame of the round-arched entry have been removed, allowing the foyer to open directly onto the street. However, the decorative glazing of the fanlight remains, along with a keystone that is adorned with the face of a bearded, bald, and grinning old man. The entry, which was originally off the foyer, is round-arched and has a decorative fanlight, framed by fluted Tuscan columns and an entablature. To the right of the entry, there is a segmental bay at the ground and first floors, topped by a cast-iron rail. All windows are flat arched, with those on the bays featuring sashes and casements of original design. There are remnants of corbels that once supported a first-floor balcony, and the building has a cornice and parapet with a railing, as well as stacks to the party wall. The interior has not been inspected.
