Description

The White Hart Public House is an inn that dates back to the late 16th century, with extensions from the 17th and 19th centuries, and alterations made in the 20th century. The building features a combination of part timber frame with painted infill and part painted brick, topped with an old tile gabled roof.

Originally designed in an L-shape with two by three framed bays, it now has an extension on the east side, creating a U-shape with two gables facing the road. The building stands two storeys high and has three chimneys, two of which have corniced heads and all topped with clay pots. The north front, which faces the road, is irregular. The left gable is plain and made of painted brick, featuring a door with a pent hood. The right gable reveals exposed timber framing, underbuilt in brick, and includes a 19th-century projecting chimney located to the right of the centre.

On the ground floor, there is a single two-light window with panelled shutters to the left of the chimney and a pent extension with a half-glazed entrance door and pent hood facing the road. The central section of the building has a three-light window with panelled shutters on the ground floor, a matching three-light window above on the first floor, and a small fixed light window to the right of the upper window.

Inside, the pub features an inglenook chimney and a queen post roof with clasped purlins.
