Description
Forge Cottage is a cottage located on Crowthorne Road in Easthampstead, originally known as Mr Perdie's Cottage. It dates from the late 16th century and has been altered and extended in the late 20th century. The cottage is constructed with a timber frame, featuring painted brick infill and part painted brick, topped with an old tile gabled roof.
The building has a rectangular plan, originally consisting of two framed bays, and has been extended to the north-east and north-west. It stands two storeys high and is adorned with two large end gable chimneys that have offsets, corniced heads, and clay pots. The windows on the cottage are 20th-century leaded casements.
The entrance front faces east and is arranged in three bays with an irregular layout. On the first floor, there is a two-light window flanked by three-light windows on each side. The ground floor features two three-light windows, a single light window, and a part-glazed and panelled entrance door located in the centre, which is set within an enclosed, projecting gabled porch. The interior has not been inspected.
