Description

Brandries Cottage is a 17th-century building that later served as the gardener's cottage for Camden House, as noted in the Brandries Hill House Sale Catalogue of 1882. The cottage has two storeys and features three window bays. It has a plain tile roof with a hip at the north end and an external stack at the right-hand end. The front is roughcast, and it has casement windows, some of which have leaded panes and old catches. On the first floor, there are two 2-light windows and one 3-light window. On the ground floor, from the north to the south end, there is a 3-light window, a 2-light window, a ledged door in a frame with a flat hood on brackets, and another 3-light window at the right-hand end. Inside, there is a chamfered beam in the south ground floor room, and the cellar is made of flint and clunch. The roof has not been inspected, and there is an external chimney at the north end of the east front. The building has a rating sheet from 1650.
