Description
The boundary walls to Carshalton House run along Pound Street and Shorts Road. Dating from the late 17th century to the 18th century, these are high walls constructed of red brick, with a plinth of red brick or render. The walls extend north and south from the gates and lodge to Carshalton House on Pound Street. One wall runs continuously southwards from the gates as far as the junction with Carshalton Road, where it has been rebuilt. It continues west along Carshalton Road to the corner with Shorts Road, then turns north to the entrance to a school on Shorts Road. Modern brick piers mark the entrance gates on Shorts Road. Another wall extends north-eastwards from the gates and lodge on Pound Street to the corner of Pound Street and West Street, then turns north-west towards the Water Tower and continues north-west as far as number 3 West Street. The walls have been repaired in places.
