Description

The Pump and Trough, located on Pound Street in Carshalton, is a 19th-century cast-iron pump. It features an inscription that reads "J Tyler and Sons Newgate Street London EC." The pump has a circular shaft with bands of necking, a pump cylinder with a handle, and a foliated spout, although the cap is missing. It stands above a rectangular stone trough. The pump was apparently relocated to its current site before 1850 from the opposite side of the road and was in use until the early 20th century.
