Description

The Milestone Obelisk located at the east end of Richmond Bridge is a late 18th century structure that commemorates the construction of Richmond Bridge. The west face of the obelisk features an inscription stating, "The First Stone of this Bridge was laid 23 August 1774 and Finished December 1777." The other faces of the obelisk include inscriptions that provide distances to London Bridge, Windsor, and other locations.
