Description

Lownethwaite Bridge is a bridge built in 1836, located in North Yorkshire, Richmondshire. It is constructed from rock-faced stone and features five segmental arches, two of which are dry, supported by pointed cutwaters. The bridge has an ashlar band and a coursed rubble parapet with segmental coping. There is a weathered inscription panel on the inner face of the downstream parapet. This bridge was built for the Richmond-Reeth turnpike road, with half of it situated in the parish of Richmond.
