Description
The Church of Saint Michael and All Angels is a Grade II listed church built in 1884 by G Wheelhouse. It is constructed of rock-faced sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof. The church has a steeple and a nave with four bays, along with a south porch and a chancel with two bays that includes a north vestry. The exterior is adorned with lancet windows, and there is an octagonal steeple located at the south-west corner. The east window consists of three trefoiled lights with a sexfoil above, set in plate tracery. Inside the porch, there are three medieval grave covers: one features a wheelhead cross, sword, and shears; another has a wheelhead cross and sword; and the third displays a fleury cross on a stepped base. A carved head is positioned above the south doorway, and there are three 13th-century lancets in the north wall of the vestry. The interior boasts a moulded, arch-braced king-post roof, and there is a stoup inside the south doorway along with a piscina at the east end, both of which are likely medieval.
