Description
Eton Cottage is an early 18th-century house located on Orleans Road in Twickenham. The exterior has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The ground floor is painted brick, while the first floor is weather-boarded and features beading to the front. The roof is now pantiled, with two brick stacks. The house is two storeys high and has two windows on the front. The first floor has two 20th-century 12-pane sashes that imitate an early 18th-century style. The ground floor has a late 19th-century sash window with horns and shutters. A pair of 20th-century six-fielded panel doors are on the left side. A small, 20th-century rear extension has been added. Inside, there is an 18th-century winder staircase within a boarded compartment. Original two-panelled doors, featuring 'H' hinges, and a panelled room partition are on the first floor. The rafters have half-joints at the ridge. A cellar is present with a modern staircase.
