Description

The garden of Hart House features a commemorative monument shaped like a monstrance, made of heavily carved Portland stone adorned with exotic garden plants and flowers. The central panel bears the inscription "Matri optimae benemerenti posuit Richardus Warner 1748," which translates to "Richard Warner set up this monument to a very good and deserving mother 1748." Next to the monument are the ruins of a chapel, likely dating from the 18th century, constructed from flint and brick, with some ashlar and reset pieces of medieval window tracery.
