Description

The wheel house at Messrs Liberty's Printworks is a building from the 18th century, located in Merton, London. It is constructed of brown brick and features a low-pitched pantile roof that slopes down to the eaves. The gable end faces the road, and on the right side, there is a 19th-century undershut wheel that is exposed, showcasing four sets of seven cast iron arms. This printworks is situated on part of the site of Merton Priory and has been used for textile printing for the past two centuries. The wheel house was specifically utilized for washing materials in the River Wandle during part of the textile processing.
