Description
The wheelhouse at Thoresway Water Mill dates from 1816 and is constructed of colourwashed red brick with a pantile roof featuring tumbled gables and dentillated eaves. It is a single-storey structure. To the right, there is a doorway with a segmental head and a plank door. On the left, there is a small opening at ground level with a wooden lintel, and above it, another small opening with a segmental head. There is also an opening to the left with a segmental head and a plank shutter. A round black and yellow metal disc indicating mileage to Market Rasen and London is located to the left. An oculus above has been bricked up, and there are oculi in both gables. The lower opening of the millrace in the south wall is partially blocked. Inside, the waterwheel is partially intact. Originally, the machinery extended under the road to a building on the other side, which is now a farm building.
