Description
The Keep (Armoury) to Hounslow Cavalry Barracks was built in 1875 by C. B. Ewart of the Royal Engineers. This three-storey building features a five-bay northeast front, with four-storey staircase towers at both ends and at the center of the southwest front. It is constructed from yellow stock brick, accented with white brick bands. The ground floor has a colonnade, and the middle bay is seal-octagonal. The third floor of the towers includes a plain blind colonnade and shallow pyramid roofs that are slated. The building has a bracketed eaves cornice leading to a coped parapet. Many of the windows still have heavy cast iron shutters, which include firing loops and massive bolts on the interior.
