Description
Yiewsley Grange is a timber-framed house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, which underwent significant alterations around 1700, with further additions in the late 18th and 19th centuries. Much of the original structure is hidden, but some chamfered beams can be seen in the kitchens, along with notable square framing on the back stairs.
The early 18th-century red brick front is two storeys high and features five windows, topped by two Victorian gable ends that hide the ridge ends of the tiled roof. There are first-floor bands, sash windows (some with glazing bars), and a few 19th-century casements. A late 19th-century gabled porch with a projecting bay is present, while to the left stands a late 18th-century battlemented gothic tower made of light red brick, partially obscured by a late 19th-century canted bay on the left return. Additionally, a barn at the north-west corner has been converted into a ballroom in the early 20th century. Inside, there is an old chimney breast with an altered inglenook, a staircase from around 1700 featuring turned balusters and a closed string, and one complete panelled room from the same period.
