Description

Hornend is a house located on Cheney Road in Eastcote, with an entirely Victorian external appearance. It is two storeys high and features many irregularly placed windows. The roofs are tiled, and the walls are a mix of painted brick and stucco. The rear elevation reveals an older central section, dating from around 1600, which is flanked by late 19th century and early 20th century wings. The older part has been refaced with mock half-timbering and roughcast filling, and includes a large early 20th century canted bay that extends through two floors. Inside the older section, there is a side-purlin roof supported by wind-braces, along with some exposed timbers, including chamfered beams on the ground floor. Stout posts made of elm are present on both floors. The front elevation features a door with an early 19th century patterned radial fanlight.
