Description
The Former Nurses Home in the grounds of Hillingdon Hospital is an early 19th-century country house. It features a cement front and stands two storeys tall. The facade includes three French windows with architraves, while the central window on the first floor is a double-hung sash. The ground floor projects to create a balcony for the first floor, which is slightly recessed in the center. There is a parapet at intervals, with a metal railing in between. On either side of the central ground floor window, there are rusticated Roman Doric half columns and pilasters. An entablature runs at the first floor level and continues at the roof level, forming a parapet. The south-east front has an earlier appearance and consists of five bays, with an additional projecting bay on the right. Three hipped ridge ends are visible above the parapet. The sash windows have glazing bars, with the first-floor windows set in segment-headed recesses and the ground floor windows featuring round arches.
