Description

Priory Lodge is a circa 1840 two-story house with seven windows facing the road. It has a low-pitched, gable-ended slate roof with deep eaves, the soffit of which continues as a cornice around the ends. Gables are present over the second and third bays from the left, which slightly project. The right-hand five bays of the ground floor also project and support a verandah with wrought iron railings between sections of stuccoed wall, suggesting battlements. The walls are all stuccoed. A section of balcony under the gable features stucco cutwork. A ground floor loggia with wide openings is framed by cast iron screens. All windows are 2 or 4-light casements with transoms. A half-glazed double door is located in the second bay from the right, sheltered by a delicate wrought iron trellis porch with a low, swept hood. A three-story section at the rear right, with a canted end, contains sash windows and a second-floor band, which is continuous with the cornice at the end of the main block. A balcony is located on the east wall of the main block.
