Description
This is a mid-to-late 19th-century house with a rebuilt front of multicoloured stock brick, standing three storeys high with a basement and three windows wide. The front replaces an earlier house dating from the early 18th century, with the sole surviving external feature being a central doorcase of considerable age and detail. The early 19th-century front door is made of one long, battered panel surrounded by a studded border, topped by a dentil cornice head and a plain rectangular fanlight set in a deep reveal. The older, likely original, doorcase comprises two fluted composite pilasters that support an entablature with a moulded and modillioned cornice, broken back in the centre. Between the pilaster capitals and below the architrave is an open pediment with moulded consoles, resting on two small moulded cornices. A modern shop occupies the ground floor on the left, partially obscuring the left side of the doorcase.
