Description

This is an early 18th century tall square milestone located near the edge of the pavement in front of number 135 on Footscray Road. The milestone is set diagonally and features a rounded top. On the south-east face, there is an old inscription that reads "MITES XI ....", though the remainder is illegible. On the north-west face, there are early 19th century iron plates that indicate "3 MITES TO FOOTSCRAY," and on the southwest face, it states "9 MILES TO LONDON."
