Description
This conduit head is a red brick structure dating from the 16th or 17th century, located on waste land at the rear of numbers 55 to 57 Southend Crescent. It features an entrance under a four-centred arch that leads into a chamber with a pointed brick vault. The south wall has arched niches, and there are four large stones embedded in the outer south wall. A passage to the northeast has a low, pointed vault and a narrow niche on the side. At the end of the passage, there is an open area with walls that have sloped coping. This conduit head was part of the old water supply system to Eltham Palace.
