Description
No. 150 Eltham Hill is a substantial early 18th century house featuring two storeys and a sunk basement, with five windows. It has a high-pitched, double-span tiled roof with offset end chimneys. The exterior is made of painted red brick, with brick angle pilasters, a cornice band, and a parapet. There is a band at the first floor level, and gauged segmental brick arches above replaced sash windows in near-flush moulded frames. A similar arch and frame are present above a deep reveal that holds a modern glazed door. The centre window on the first floor has been altered to a smaller size, and there is a 19th-century pent extension on the right side.
The rear elevation, also in red brick, features three hipped, gabled dormers, with some brickwork renewed after war damage. Inside, the original staircase has a ramped handrail, close spiral twist balusters, and a cut string with elaborately carved ends. There is a panelled dado, and above it, on both parts of the dog-leg between the ground and first floor, are two wall paintings depicting trophies of arms. The first floor contains panelled rooms, and the hall has a screen of two Doric columns, which is now filled in with panelling.
