Description

The building is the former premises of The Curlew Rowing Club, with a residence above, located on Crane Street in Greenwich. The street front is plain brick, mostly restored, and features modern windows, which are not of interest. However, the river front, dating from around 1830, complements the Trafalgar Tavern. It has two storeys above a retaining wall, with a stucco finish and a rusticated ground floor. The design includes an entablature with a dentil cornice and wreaths in the frieze, along with a blocking course above, except for the center where there is a pierced parapet. The central bay features three grouped long sash windows with glazing bars and wrought iron guards, while the ground floor has similar but shorter windows. On either side, there are single windows set at canted angles, which are long sashes with delicate glazing bars, along with matching ground floor windows below. The property is part of a group with the Trafalgar Tavern and Park Row.
