Description
Nos. 1 and 2 The Row is a house that was originally two cottages within a terrace, which has seen significant alterations to the remaining parts. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed from coursed rubble gritstone, featuring brick end stacks and a stone slated roof. The building stands three storeys high and has two bays, which were formerly a single bay for each dwelling. The original stacked former 2-light flush mullioned windows have been replaced with horizontal sliding sash windows set in flush stone surrounds. The ground floor openings have 20th-century joinery. There are two doorways, both with large quoined surrounds and lintels; one doorway has been blocked to create a window, while the other features a 20th-century half-glazed door. The building is listed for its group value.
