Description
High Croft is a house, formerly a house with an attached outbuilding, dating from the late 18th century. It is built of regularly coursed gritstone and features quoins, coped gables with block kneelers, and intermediate and end ridge stacks, topped with a two-rendered Welsh slated roof. The building has two storeys above a basement and consists of four bays, which are divided into two parts by intermediate quoining.
The two bays to the west form a double-fronted house with a central doorway that has quoined edges, a heavy lintel, and a shallow bracketed hood. The six-panelled door has glazed upper panels. On either side of the doorway are stacked 2-light flush mullioned windows with painted surrounds and mullions, featuring 20th-century casements.
To the east, there are two basement doorways with massive surrounds and plain planked doors. Between these doorways is a single light opening with a flush surround and boarded shutter. Above, there is a 3-light flush mullioned window with 19th-century glazing bar casements, along with two single light openings on the first floor in flush surrounds, both fitted with 20th-century casements.
