Description
The Jug and Glass Public House is a public house dated 1782, as noted on the door lintel. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with quoins, featuring a coped west gable, intermediate and west end brick stacks, and a stone slated roof. The building has an "L" plan, with a lower two-storey range at the rear.
The south elevation has three storeys and two bays, which originally had stacked 2-light flush mullioned windows but now features 20th-century leaded casements set in old stone frames. The central doorway is framed by a quoined surround with a shallow bracketed hood, and it contains a six-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed. Additionally, there is elaborate 20th-century metal scrollwork that supports a sign on the front elevation. The inscription on the door lintel reads S.S.E. 1782.
