Description
The walls to the west and south of the recreation ground, along with a short length of wall to the north at the east end, date from the 17th century and are constructed of red brick. They feature buttresses with tapered tops, and there are some later repairs to the upper parts. These walls mark the boundary of a former burial ground, which is lined with old tombstones. The area extends eastward to St Alfege passage, and the section of the eastern wall that runs along that street is listed separately.
