Description
The Mill Owner's House, located to the west of the old mill building at Wright's Flour Mills, dates from the late 18th century and is two stories with a mansard attic. The brick exterior is covered in ivy. Flanking the central door are two two-story cemented canted bays from the 18th century, which feature 19th-century sash windows and 18th-century dentil cornices. The central entrance has a pedimented porch supported by columns in the style of the Tower of the Winds, accessed by two stone steps. Above the door is a round-headed ornamental fanlight, with a 19th-century sash window above it. The house has a parapet with mansard slates and three 18th-century flat-top sash dormers. There are end stacks and early to later 19th-century extensions to the west. This house, along with the old mill building, the house to the east of the old mill building, and the barn, forms a working group that is a very rare survival in London.
