Description
75 South Street is a detached villa built around 1838 by an unknown builder. It is constructed of stock brick with gauged brick window arches and features a shallow hipped slate roof. The villa has a three-bay, two-storey front over a basement, with 6/6 pane sash windows that have stone sills. There are four chimneystacks, some topped with tall hand-thrown pots. The front entrance has a six-panel door set between pilasters, and the ground floor windows at the front still have their original shutters. The rear elevation includes a slate-roofed verandah and a lavatory addition on the first floor supported by cast iron columns. There is also an outshut on the west side with a side door. This property is listed as a very early Victorian house built in the Georgian tradition, remaining largely intact and showcasing elegant proportions.
