Description
The former Well Station of Thames Water Authority, built around 1900, is a picturesque structure designed in a vernacular revival style. It features a main range with a cross-wing and a lower range that extends as a catslide beyond the end of the main range. The building has a tall storey made of pale brick, accented with darker brick pilasters, a band, and dressings, which sits atop a basement with a row of small round windows. This upper storey supports an oversailing half-timbered attic, which is held up by long timber brackets and has a tiled roof. The attic storey includes 17th century style casements and roughcast filling. The main floor consists of seven bays with large windows that are almost touching; five on the right above the basement are square-headed, mullioned, and transomed, while the left side features a floor-length, round-headed glazed opening. A large door on the right side rises to the height of the jetty. The building is currently being used for artificial recharge.
