Description
This is an early 19th-century lock keeper’s cottage located at Lock 97 of the Grand Union Canal. It is a single-storey building, faced with cement. The front elevation has one sash window and one blank space. A simple hood shelters the doorway. The cottage has plain eaves and a flat, pitched slate roof, fully hipped to the right, extending up to a chimney stack on the left. This suggests that the cottage is half of a pair, with the other half either demolished or never constructed.
