Description

MOUNT PARK ROAD 1. 5010 Lamp standard at junction of Mount Park Road and Park Hill TQ 18 SE 2/32 II 2. 1895. Altered; cast-iron street lamp standard with square base dated 1895 and inscribed 'L E B' (London Electricity Board) and 'By Callender Co Ltd, London'. Base has shafted angles and panels with the inscriptions on each face, a simple acanthus frieze and capitals with an ogee standard plinth with scrolled angles. The standard has 4 modern lamps on semi-circular brackets supported by wrought iron scrolls. A very early electric light standard.
