Description
The United Reformed Church of St Paul and its Church Hall were built in 1904 and 1909, respectively, by Charles Henman in a free late Perpendicular style. The church is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features narrow aisles, transepts, and a chancel. The west front has three entrances beneath moulded pointed arches, with a five-light window above that showcases elaborate tracery. Small stone pepper-pot turrets flank the window. The roof is tiled and includes a wooden bell cote and a spirelet over the crossing, which has an octagonal bell-stage with wooden two-light traceried openings on each face. The Church Hall, linked to the church by a single-storey range, features a small wooden bellcote on the roof ridge topped with an agee lead cap. Together, the two buildings create a harmonious group.
