Description

This milestone, dated 1779, is located at the corner of Dalton Close and Tubbenden Lane. It is made of limestone and has a square plan with a pyramidal top. The front is inscribed with "XV MILES FROM LONDON BRIDGE," and the date 1779 is inscribed beneath this text. This milestone is part of the New Cross Turnpike road established in 1718.
