Description

The railings and gatepiers to Ravensbourne School were built around 1910 by H. P. Burke-Downing. In front of the main entrance, there are two elaborate stone piers topped with gadrooned urns, along with gates that feature an overthrow incorporating the school shield, pilasters, ornament, and a dograil. To the north-east, there are two additional brick piers connected by a wrought iron overthrow topped with ball finials, and further north-east is another brick pier. To the south-west of the central entrance, there are two piers from the 1930s, also topped with ball finials. All the piers are connected by a low stepped stone wall that has cast iron railings with scrolled piers at intervals. A late 20th-century section located further south-west, which matches the original style, is not included in this listing.
