Description
This mid-19th century cast iron post is located on the land of a gun club, positioned on the east side of a lane that forms the western boundary of the shooting ground and the former Borough of Dartford. The post is square with chamfered corners and features two projecting moulded cornices, with a shield in the space between. It has a chamfered top and bears the inscription "24 and 25 VICT CAP 42". The base of the post includes a plinth with moulded coping. This post serves as a marker for the collection of tax on coal entering London.
